An impressive 6ft long salt water fish tank has been installed in our new marina shop as part of the £2m boatshed redevelopment at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour.
The huge tank offers an opportunity to see beneath the surface of the Beaulieu River and discover the range of amazing creatures which live there.
From crabs, shrimps and eels to a wide variety of fish, all can be seen by visitors as they make appearances in the biodiversity tank. Some will be rescued when they come ashore on boats, while others will be responsibly gathered by boatyard staff and only spend a short time on show before being safely returned to the Beaulieu River.
Beaulieu River Harbour Master Wendy Stowe said: This provides a fantastic opportunity to see beneath the water and the huge range of marine life which lives in the Beaulieu River.
It’s also a wonderful educational tool for children to learn more about the environment around them – and we hope that everyone will enjoy this special feature.
Customer Communication Administrator Bel Coles spent many hours of her own time creating a beautiful graphic to display next to the tank and share fun facts about the creatures.
The newly designed Beaulieu River gift shop has many added features, including Admiralty charts on the wall behind reception showing coastal features and how to navigate the Beaulieu River safely.
A rustic looking café area is perfect to call in for a chat, or take a break and read a magazine while enjoying a freshly baked croissant or cinnamon swirl with a coffee.
Then don’t forget to stock up on boating supplies in the one-stop chandlery, before browsing tempting bespoke gift ranges to take a memento home from your Beaulieu River visit.
